Frequency Illusion, 2024
colour video, 51 seconds
Set against the backdrop of 1980s China, and post-Cultural Revolution, Frequency Illusion examines the psychological phenomenon where repeated exposure to an idea makes it seem more prevalent. Through this work, I explore the coexistence of multiple realities within the same temporal framework, reflecting on the tension between rapid modernisation and individual perception.
The film interrogates the recurring contrast between individuals and their shifting environments, capturing the echoes of a past era as they resurface in new forms. By visualising these synchronous dissonances, the work questions how collective memory and personal experience intersect in times of transformation
